WiT are very pleased to announce the inaugural

WiT Regional Breakfast and Networking

Townsville

WiT is committed to supporting women in technology, wherever they are based.  In response to member feedback we are very proud to announce the first WiT Regional Series Breakfast and Networking events.

Our regional initiative is designed to support and foster the careers of women in technology fields in Queensland's regional areas and encourage networking opportunities for our regional members and affiliates.  WiT is keen to expand reach and support for regional women as we truly believe that location need not inhibit our members.

Our keynote speaker for the event will be Professor Sandra Harding, Vice-Chancellor of James Cook University.  Prof. Harding will speak about her career journey, highlights and lowlights, providing food for thought and inspiration to women for their own career development.

Professor Harding took up her appointment as Vice Chancellor & President of James Cook University in January 2007.  In this role, she is responsible for ensuring clear and effective leadership and management of the University across all operating sites, including Townsville, Cairns and Singapore.

Educated at the Australian National University, The University of Queensland and North Carolina State University (USA), Prof. Harding is an economic sociologist with a keen scholarly interest in markets, how they work and organisation survey methodology.  She also has a keen professional interest in education policy and management.

Professor Harding has extensive academic and academic leadership experience.  In addition, she has undertaken a wide variety of senior university-aligned roles as well as memberships/directorships of a variety of local, national and international Boards and Councils.

The event will commence with networking over breakfast so make sure you bring your business cards to this valuable networking opportunity.
