    Professor Moe Thandar Wynn

As a professor of Information Technology specialising in data and process science, I develop foundational knowledge and innovative data-driven algorithms to support the digital transformation of organisations. I am co-director of QUT’s Centre for Data Science and the leader of the Process Science research group within the School of Information Systems. My current research investigates theories and techniques in data quality management and process intelligence so that ethical and unbiased insights are generated from digital trails left by process executions. I am working on integrating process technology with artificial intelligence and data mining to revolutionize how organizations adapt their processes in real-time and respond to external threats by continuously sensing from process digital trails. My research takes a process-centric lens to design data science methods that visualize, automate and innovate processes. I have more than 15 years of experience in interdisciplinary research with 25+ Australian partners. My research findings have been applied in diverse business contexts, visualising road trauma patients’ end-to-end journeys from roadside to bedside, undertaking privacy-preserving data analysis of Australian electronic health records, predicting agri-food supply chain risks, pinpointing bottlenecks in insurance claims, and modelling truck movements across Australia using Telematics data. As Vice Chair and steering committee member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (IEEE) Taskforce on Process Mining (2019 – 2023), I revised an IEEE event data format standard, ran a global survey of process mining professionals to advance data quality approaches, facilitated the certification of process mining tools, and promoted process mining research for wider industry adoption.

Quick Wins: Financial Stress in Relationships by Melissa Meagher

Achieve your professional goals for 2025 and beyond with Quick Wins, a new program designed to empower our Women in Technology community. These monthly, bite-sized 1-hour lunchtime sessions provide actionable insights while minimizing impact on your working day. Can’t attend live? Recordings will be available for all registered participants.

We’re continuing the series with Melissa Meagher and how to navigate the financial stress in relationships.

Join us and take your career to the next level!

    Meet your facilitator:

Melissa Meagher creates a safe space to have a real conversation about money and is passionate about uncovering how our relationship with money impacts our motivations and behaviour every…single…day!

Melissa has had over 20 years’ experience in the financial services industry - working previously as a financial planner, stockbroker and seminar delivery specialist across a broad range of employers – from the big guys to the smaller boutique firms.

Then around 10 years ago Melissa had a realisation…a realisation that she was a non-conformist and never really fitted into the box of being employed (think star fish formation!)

She knew there was something more for her

She knew that she definitely didn’t want to be employed anymore

And she knew she wanted to be 100% available for her young children

So, Melissa consolidated all her amazing knowledge and experience around money and finances coupled with her deep desire to help and support people and created her own Money Coaching business called Talking Money!

Talking Money is about transforming people’s lives; by providing the tools, support and framework to empower them to have clarity, awareness and efficiency around their money.

To show motivated and dynamic individuals who are open and ready to claim their worth for ultimate financial independence, activating their abundance, freeing themselves from limiting beliefs and truly stepping into their power.

    Melissa’s Super-Power is public speaking.

She has spoken extensively both in her own business and as a Guest Speaker (including Business Chicks) and has also been a contributor to various media outlets (including Marie Claire Australia).

Melissa has been member of the Financial Planning Association since 1997.

Melissa holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance), Diploma of Financial Planning, and is a Certified Financial Planner (non-practicing)

Melissa likes to keep fit and healthy and enjoys spending time with her two children Olivia and Lachlan.

Good company, food and wine are essential!

    Financial Stress in Relationships

If I had a dollar for every time someone has said to me “my partner and I never fight about anything…except money” let’s just say I would be a very wealthy woman!

Why is talking to your partner about money so damn hard?

Why is being on the same page when it comes to making financial decisions so difficult? (and frustrating!)

Why can’t we just use our differences for good instead of evil?

BECAUSE IT IS NEVER JUST ABOUT THE MONEY!

I would love you to join me for an interactive and robust conversation about the impact of Financial Stress on Relationships and what we can do to prevent all the above from happening and instead work together as a united and dynamic team.

We will be covering the following topics together:

    • The impact of financial insecurity on family and personal relationships
    • The importance of having supportive networks
    • The power of understanding each other’s Money Story and why we are so different!
    • Strategies to encourage open (and honest!) communication around money and our finances

"It has been a great experience. I really enjoyed how interactive the organisers have made this with ongoing support and opportunities to ask questions."

    What our Mentees say:

"Honestly I wasn't sure what to expect. I have done mentoring programs before and haven't really got a lot out of it. This was different, I think largely due to the mentor that I was matched with who was brilliant."

"It has definitely helped put me on the path to my goals and helped me clarify what they are."

    Humans...Not Robots: Lead with EQ

    Learn, Discover, Discuss & Network

    Overview

The program focuses on amplifying your core emotional intelligence capabilities, leaving you better able to navigate conflict and resistance from your team, recognise the impact of stress on your team, and role model effective balance away from the workplace.

Research conducted by Gallup has found that the emotional intelligence (EQ) of leaders directly correlates to employee tenure and productivity, with most employees caring more about their relationship with their boss than their salary. Emotional intelligence is a key ingredient in successful leadership and can be developed through practice.

    Key Learning Outcomes

    • Deepen your understanding of the neuroscience of emotions and how they influence human behaviour, decision making and performance.
    • Apply emotional Intelligence to more effectively create a healthy high-performance culture.
    • Enhance relational trust in your team/organization through empathetic leadership that drives innovation.
    • Learn how to increase your resilience through increased self-awareness and implementation of proactive strategies.

You will be invited to complete two scientifically verified diagnostics as a part of the program.

    • GENOS Emotional Intelligence
    • Everything DiSC Catalyst
