Your MC  Dr Joel Gilmore is a physicist and energy expert, providing advice to industry and government on transitioning Australia to a low emissions future.  He's also a passionate science communicator and performer, including co-host of Food Lab on SBS where he talks about the science and technology of cooking.  In his spare time, he teaches swing dancing, learns musical instruments and travels the world - 54 countries so far!
    Your Keynote for the evening

Dr Kirstin Ferguson is one of Australia’s most experienced company directors with 10 years experience on publicly listed, private company, government & NFP boards. Kirstin has been named by the Australian Financial Review as one of Australia’s 100 Women on Influence and has received numerous awards during her career for leadership & governance.   She is the recent recipient of the 2018 Queensland Award for Excellence in Women’s Leadership. 
 
Dr Ferguson currently sits on the boards of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, SCA Property Group, Hyne & Layne Beachley’s Foundation & on the Advisory Panel of SheStarts, an incubator for female led technology startups and is Chairman of the Women’s Agenda Leadership Awards. Previous board appointments include CIMIC, Dart Energy, SunWater, Thiess, Queensland Rugby Union & Queensland Theatre Company. 
 
Dr Ferguson began her career after joining the military aged 17 and went on to become the Dux of her Air Force graduating class at the ADF Academy and was posted to an F-111 Squadron. Kirstin went on to study law and spent almost a decade in leadership roles in a corporate law firm. Dr Ferguson then became CEO of a global consulting organisation in the mining and resources industry before commencing her professional company director career. 
 
Dr Ferguson is creator of the Walkley nominated #CelebratingWomen campaign. She is a regular commentator on leadership, corporate culture, diversity and inclusion an is a member of national & international women’s organisations including Chief Executive Women, Women Corporate Directors and Women’s Leadership Institute of Australia.

They offer free, professional and non-judgemental telephone support, wherever you live in Queensland.  DVConnect Womensline takes over 8000 calls a month from women in fear of or in immediate threat of danger from Domestic or Family Violence and on average assist over 600 & often more than 500 children to be moved to safety every month.

$10 from every ticket purchased to the awards will give you two entries into the raffle on the night.  All funds raised will be donated to DVConnect

Parking Information

Allocated parking for our event is at Sideshow Alley (see map below) this is accessed from O’Connell Terrace and is $13.00 per car, payable on entry.
