The Digital Skills Cadetship Program is delivered in partnership with MEGT, The Institute of Applied Technology – Digital, Women in Technology and Prodigy Learning. The Program is supported by Microsoft and funded by the Australian Government Department of Education, Skills and Employment.  The program uses innovative training approaches to provide alternative pathways to digital careers for women, blending formal training with on-the-job learning and mentoring.

Your Team of Allies:


Kelly Wilkes grew up in Perth and had the luxury of a free range childhood, moving to Sydney in her teenage years. Travelling extensively in her youth, she has had a wide variety of experiences, opportunities and setbacks. Kelly has spent the last 20 plus years working in a variety of IT and business roles ranging from Insurance and Banking to Government and Education, from global giants to a 3-person technology start-up. She has had many roles and worked in Australia, Sri Lanka, Africa, Europe and the US. Currently she is the COO of MOQdigital using what she has learnt from all these diverse roles to understand people and enable them to realise their full potential.


Fiona Pearman is Co-founder of Quantum Impact Group and co-author of Core Confidence. Fiona’s work is primarily focused on empowering women to be catalysts of change and supporting organisations to build their pipeline of female talent. The research demonstrates that gender-balanced workplaces improve profitability, innovation and diversity – so more women at the top benefits everyone! With a background in brand strategy, culture and leadership, Fiona has seen first-hand the opportunities that can be harnessed when organisations shift the systemic and structural barriers that impede gender equity.


Thasmika Gokal is champion, owner and leader of the adoption of artificial intelligence and machine learning practices and solutions across our Microsoft partner ecosystems in Australia. She works with partners at every stage of the development lifecycle; from product strategy and envisioning to building-with and grow-with phases. Before Microsoft, her Physics and Statistics undergraduate degree let her explore her curiosity for the biggest and smallest things in universe. Rigorous by nature, these fields have trained her to embrace the big-picture and creatively answer important questions. Thasmika is truly passionate about the dynamical intersections between science, technology and business – She aims to be a leader that unlocks human potential through innovative technology. 

Thasmika was also winner of our Emerging Achiever Technology Award 2021.


Huong Nguyen with over 30 years of comprehensive experience as an Information Technologist, Huong strives to deliver strong yet versatile results within her industry.  She currently specialises in banking technology and has contributed to a number of reputable projects as a Principal Software Engineer at Suncorp. 

Her responsibilities have also allowed her to mentor others within the graduate program as well as the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) program at Suncorp. 

Huong was also a finalist in our 2022 WiT Awards Technologist of the Year category.


Virginia Calegare is a highly experienced Information Security Specialist with a demonstrated history of working in Public and Private Sectors, including the military industry.

Skilled and experienced in Cyber Risk Management, Governance & Compliance, Enterprise Architecture Security, NIST CSF & ISO 27k Maturity Assessment, Privacy, Knowledge Management, Digital Forensics, and Submarine Systems. With a Master of Policing, Intelligence and Counter Terrorism, specialisation in Cyber Security from Macquarie University.
