The Women in Technology (WIT) Annual General Meeting (AGM) is an important opportunity for members and community to hear from WIT’s Board and Management on our performance, outlook and strategy, and ask questions.
This year’s AGM will be held on Wednesday 28 May 2025, commencing at 5.30pm. It will be conducted as a hybrid meeting, enabling members to attend either in person at Allens or virtually.
With Guest Speaker Amena Khatun

I am a Research Scientist at CSIRO’s Data61, specialising in quantum machine learning (QML) algorithm development to solve complex, real-world challenges across sectors such as defence, intelligence, healthcare, and cybersecurity. My work lies at the intersection of traditional AI and next-generation quantum AI, with deep expertise in quantum transfer learning, quantum generative models, and quantum adversarial machine learning. I completed my PhD in AI and Vision Technologies from Queensland University of Technology in 2021 and have since been dedicated to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in AI. My passion lies in building innovative and impactful solutions that leverage the unique power of quantum computing to go beyond classical limits. My research has been published in top-tier journals such as Pattern Recognition and IEEE Transactions, and I regularly serve as a reviewer for several IEEE journals. I was recently awarded the Poster Prize at Quantum Australia 2025 for my work in quantum adversarial machine learning and the Women in IT 2024 Emerging Tech Star Award for my contributions to QML. Throughout my academic and professional journey, I’ve been honoured with several awards, including the Chancellor’s Gold Medal, the Australian Government Research Training Program Scholarship, QUT Excellence Top-Up, HDR High Achiever Award, and Postgraduate Research Thesis Excellence Award. Beyond research, I actively contribute to shaping the future of science and technology as an advisor for CSIRO’s Next Generation Graduates Program, a Health, Safety & Environment representative in the Cybersecurity and Quantum Systems group, and organiser of key conferences and industry engagement initiatives.
