This transformation involves significant investment in digital infrastructure and services in support of their major functions of learning and teaching, research and engagement.

The Digital Foundations team supports the University’s digital infrastructure initiatives in the areas and products for Cloud and Virtualization Services, Middleware & Integration, Networking and Communications and Backup & Archiving.   

Within this team, the Solutions Architect designs enterprise, business domain and solution architectures. They are accountable for taking an integrated end-to-end approach in designing the overarching future state of platforms and products across the full stack (applications, data, infrastructure, security) within their domain and collaborating with their colleagues across domains. They set standards and guidelines that help teams to deliver high quality solutions for clients; lead the development and improve the maturity of solution architecture; and facilitate end-to-end thinking in product/platform roadmaps as well as technology processes.

 Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:    

  • Actively maintains recognised expert level knowledge in one or more identifiable specialisms
  • Analyses and designs business processes; identifies alternative solutions to exploit new technologies and automation
  • Contributes to the creation and review of a systems capability strategy which meets the strategic requirements of the business 
  • Supports monitoring of the external environment and assessment of emerging technologies to evaluate the potential impacts, threats and opportunities to the organisation 
  • Leads the development of solution architectures in specific business, infrastructure or functional areas
  • Develops and maintains a detailed knowledge of capability improvement approaches and techniques and selects appropriate approaches for the organisation   
  • Adopts and adapts appropriate systems design methods, tools and techniques selecting appropriately from predictive (plan-driven) approaches or adaptive (iterative/agile) approaches, and ensures they are applied effectively 
  • Implements stakeholder engagement/communications plan 

What we can offer
This a fixed-term (12 months), full-time position based at our Nathan campus. 

Salary range HEW Level 9 Base Salary $117,320 – $121,515 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total package is in the range $137,264 - $142,172 per annum.

About you 

  • To be successful within this role, you will be able to demonstrate significant knowledge and experience in Solution Architecture. You will also display evidence of:    
  • Excellent interpersonal, stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills
  • Experience in Agile, Scrum and Kanban methodologies would be preferred. 
  • Degree in relevant discipline or equivalent skills, knowledge, and experience are highly regarded
