Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is seeking a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Computer Science (Software Development) to join School of Computer Science, Faculty of Science, Academic Division.

The School of Computer Science at QUT is looking to recruit a Lecturer (Level B) or Senior Lecturer (Level C) who is able to make strategic contributions to teaching in Software Development and research in the field of Computer Science (Cyber Security, Data Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Games, Virtual/Augmented Reality or a related discipline). At a junior level you are an enthusiastic academic with experience in the relevant field and an emerging record of publishing and funding success relative to opportunity. At a more senior level you are an experienced and enthusiastic academic who is well versed in leadership and looking to catalyse new opportunities in the relevant field.

The Faculty is led by the Executive Dean and the Executive Management Team which includes the Deputy Dean, Associate Deans, Heads of School, and the Faculty Operations Manager.

About the School

The School of Computer Science has over 45 academic staff and 1744 equivalent full-time students (representing nearly 14,000 unit enrolments) including over 100 higher degree research (HDR) students. The staff and HDR students lead and conduct research and teaching that has a real world impact, through a focus on innovations that are smart, safe, and satisfying.

The School conducts fundamental and applied research into creating better, faster, more secure, and more accessible computing and interactive systems. Our research seeks to support a range of users, including people with diverse abilities, cultures and backgrounds, in interacting safely, effectively and engagingly with data, devices, and each other. Our expertise spans machine learning, artificial intelligence, human-computer interaction, data and text mining, information security, cloud computing, and augmented and virtual reality.

What you need to succeed

Your expertise and initiative, combined with your ability to work as an excellent team player will be vital to your success in this role.

You will demonstrate:

1. Completion of a doctoral qualification in a field relevant to computer science.

2. Demonstrated leadership ability (teaching, research and/or engagement) in relevant field (appropriate to appointment level).

3. Capacity to coordinate and teach a range of relevant undergraduate and postgraduate units (including Software Development), with the ability to implement innovative teaching practices including blended learning and authentic assessment.

4. Ability to develop and maintain a research program that supports and complements existing research strengths in a relevant discipline of computer science.

5. Level C – demonstrated ability to supervise undergraduate research students and higher degree research (HDR) students; Level B - ability to supervise undergraduate research students, and potential to develop the ability to supervise HDR students.

6. Effective communication skills and the ability to develop partnerships and work constructively with a range of collaborators.

Remuneration: $125,576 to $149,137 pa (LEVB) (inclusive of $106,113 to $126,022 salary pa, 17% superannuation and 17.5% recreation leave loading) Or $153,837 to $177,406 pa (LEVC) (inclusive of $129,994 to $149,910 salary pa, 17% superannuation and 17.5% recreation leave loading)
